18th floor balcony - Blue October : Song Review

From the album, Foiled.

This is such a beautiful and emotional song from the band Blue October. It’s about a person that fell hard in a way he/she never could imagine falling in love with somebody that much. And you know the feeling when you’re in love. You feel high and feels like flying! Hence, that’s where the title came from.

And it feels like you opened up your life and surrender you’re self and even took up the risk even if you know in the end, you could get hurt. But then the sad part is, one second you know that he/she’s so into you and the next thing you know, you’re dying because you’re hurting so much and real bad. Still, you’re waiting for that person to come and take you back: “My arms are open wide.., I’m so yours for the taking, I’m still so yours for the taking.”

At the end, you’ll decide to sleep - just to be with that person once more, even just in dreams.

About the band,
They came from Houston, Texas. They're genre is more of alternative and acoustics. It’s been known that the lead singer named her daughter ‘Blue’.

The music.
The very low note will definitely scare you for in the very first intro of the song. But then his cold lonely voice will get the listener hooked and later on you’ll realize that you can somehow relate or feel for the guy. The violin makes your head swing through its melancholic melody and the meticulous strumming of the strings silently intensifies the tone of the song. Such a perfect for those senti moments.
