One more night - Maroon 5 Song review

From the 2012 Album, Overexposed

Before.
Remember when you told yourself “This will be the last time” , only to find that you’ve been in the same situation before. And you’ll be like “Damn, Here I go again!” (Yeah I stopped using my head, using my head let it all go.) A lot of us experienced this dilemma.

Other’s said that it’s as an acid-test as to weather the feelings for each other is still there or it could be that the sex with that partner is too damn good that you can’t simply get over it. So other’s tend to sell the “let’s have a closure” thought, it’s a no brainer style that works all the fucking time! Admit it, most closures leads to this: Make up sex, ‘cuz its there – the sexual tension between ex-lovers.

During.
Mindless fuck or Love making, You pick!  Well it will always be the one way or another.

All the feeling of longing, missing each other, the anger, the loneliness, the but’s and if’s, the memories, the pain will be diluted in that one dilusional night. The satisfaction of having that person under your control again especially if you guys came from a bad break up. You can have a senseless fuck or make love like you used to but prepare yourself for the consequences. It’s an emotional torture especially if you’re still inlove with that person.

After.
I'd be waking up, in the morning probably hating myself. And i'd be waking up, feeling satisfied but guilty as hell.”

You will wake up in the reality that THAT pleasurable night is rightfuly entitlled to His/Her new bed mate. The once used to be passionate expression of love is now a forbidden afair. Indeed, The sweetest sin!

Bottom line.
Make up sex is only for THAT moment, End it as soon as He/She gets off the bed. Sex just makes things complicated. How pathetic it is to use sex as a tool just to get back in a relationship. Girls, think well.

Yes we’re living in the generation we’re NSA/Casual sex is a normal scene but c’mon, don’t you want to wake up every morning next to the person that you wanted to make love with every night? If its worth doing, it's worth doing right!

About the Band
Maroon5 is one of the most successful band of this generation. Their first band name is Kara's flower. Despite the break from the band of their keyboardist: Jesse Carmichael, the band still pursue their fourth album - Overexposed. Yet another record that will take the avid listeners by storm!

About the Music
A pop rock tune track. Easy on the ear and radio friendly. It keeps ahead on the flow of our current music scene.

Lyrics:
You and I go hard, at each other like we going to war
You and I go rough, we keep throwing things and slammin' the door
You and I get so, damn dysfunctional we stopped keeping score
You and I get sick, yah I know that we can't do this no more

But baby there you again, there you again making me love you
Yeah I stopped using my head, using my head let it all go
Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo
And now i'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid crawling back to you
So I cross my heart, and I hope to die, that I'll only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
But i'll only stay with you one more night

Trying to tell you no, but my body keeps on telling you yes
Trying to tell you stop, but your lipstick got me so out of breath
I'd be waking up, in the morning probably hating myself
And i'd be waking up, feeling satisfied but guilty as hell

But baby there you go again, there you go again making me love you
Yeah I stopped using my head, using my head let it all go
Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo
And now i'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid crawling back to you
So I cross my heart, and I hope to die, that i'll only stay with you one more night
And I know i've said it a million times
But i'll only stay with you one more night

Yeah baby give me one more night
Yeah baby give me one more night
Yeah baby give me one more night

But baby there you again, there you again making me love you
Yeah I stopped using my head, using my head let it all go
Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

So I cross my heart, and I hope to die, that i'll only stay with you one more night
And I know i've said it a million times
But i'll only stay with you one more night

(yeah baby give me one more night)

So I cross my heart, and I hope to die, that i'll only stay with you one more night
And I know i've said it a million times
But i'll only stay with you one more night

(I don't know, whatever...)

Fall 3.1

Must be his perfect smile.
Or cud be the twinkle in his eye.
Maybe his beautiful mind.
He's really one of a kind.

The way he talks, it flaunts it all.
His thoughtful gesture leaves no flaw.
Warm, masculine skin hypens my senses.
With every kiss he leaves me breathless!

The glow in his hair as the moon beam
Cast behind him.
That lingering scent of his skin,
Lure me to adjust closer.
And his sitting angle makes me want to hug him.

His mere presence makes my night perfect.
Just sitting beside him & felt contented.
How awesome indeed to feel for him this way.
To fell harder for the same person in every single way.

Good Girls – Chris Cab Song review

From his 2011 debut EP: Foreword

Fun fact!
E.P. Means Extended Play. It’s for amateur singer/band who’s yet unsigned by a record company who will produces the Album out in the market.

It sounded like one of those hang out moment with the dudes and he’s giving an advice based on his experience. Imagine hearing an advice from a person you know who’s such a stud and yet knows what he have lost. Hey being vulnerable doesn’t hurt.
Good girls.  The definition always ranges from physical, character wise, breeding, family background, wit, money and other standards. I think there is a rare subscription in the classic adage: “There’s more to inside than out.” I think I am one of those, looks do come and go but it is the character that stays.
It’s like a wakeup call when you think you’ve moved on and getting yourself out there and living your life to the fullest but matter of fact, there is still a part of you who wishes you’re spending all of You with that person.
If you have THAT girl, be grateful cuz indeed.. “Good girls don’t grow on trees”. Now if you happen to “used-to-have-one-before” well be thankful still, for a wonderful love is never a waste.
Weather He/She is the one that got away, Don’t forget the person I say. Forget that he/she is not that person anymore. Live with it and learn your lesson. Cling to the hope that you can a true love the second time around.

About the music
The song is an acoustic with a twist of modern pump making that turns it to be an easy listening music. The type of song you wanna chill with in a slow day.

About Chris Cab
A 17 year old dude from Miami, Florida. A rising star who wrapped his music in a feel good and chill vibes rooted from his music influence: Bob Marley, Sublime, Cold play and Jack Johnson.

Here’s the music video and lyrics below:

Hey man, I’ve learned my lesson
Got a good girl, count your blessings
Instead of spending them up on sex
And good girls don’t grow on trees
I was out in the world just messin’
With the bad girls, getting refreshed and
Got a call from my girl
Just left saying good girls don’t grow on trees

I felt like it was yesterday,
The times we had that went away
We’re still young, but of course we felt a lot
Now I’ve been living like a villain that’s been shot
I met her through a friend of mine,
Who told me that this girl was fine.
I picked her up and I started to figure out
There’s more on the inside than on the out

Hey man, I’ve learned my lesson
Got a good girl, count your blessings
Instead of spending them up on sex
And good girls don’t grow on trees
I was out in the world just messin’
With the bad girls, getting refreshed and
Got a call from my girl
Just left saying good girls don’t grow on trees

She helped me get my world in tact
She had my heart, I told her that
Now it hurts every time I think about
The very night that I started with acting out
The morning brought a painful sun
Knowing now just what I’ve done
She always was the better half for sure
The part of me in life that I preferred

Hey man, I’ve learned my lesson
Got a good girl, count your blessings
Instead of spending them up on sex
And good girls don’t grow on trees
I was out in the world just messin’
With the bad girls, getting refreshed and
Got a call from my girl
Just left saying good girls don’t grow on trees

She said don’t bother me (hey, hey)
She told me that I have to leave
I wanted her just to believe
I gave her all of me (hey, hey)
Knew it tore her up inside
But we still kept the love alive

Hey man, I’ve learned my lesson
Got a good girl, count your blessings
Instead of spending them up on sex
And good girls don’t grow on trees
I was out in the world just messin’
With the bad girls, getting refreshed and
Got a call from my girl
Just left saying good girls don’t grow on trees

Payphone - Maroon5 feat Wiz Khalifa

From the 2012 Album, Overexposed

Everybody had this moment - when you’re dying to hear your ex’s voice. It’s not unanswered, neither a miss call. It’s when you call someone and didn’t make it to utter not a single word. While seeking the what for of your action, an instant flash back came to your head. Payphone because you don’t want them to know your identity.

It’s just sad to see that everything you believe is dead and all seems like an illusion that haunts you. That voice might become the validation of your unrequited love. It might sound desperate but for a person seeking for the big fat WHY, this is the sanest thing to do.

Damn that wasted chance, one last shot – which unfortunately missed! Where did our forever gone? “But even the sun sets in paradise” And yes, all good things came to an end.

Maybe work it out? Give it a try as it may possibly work out this time around because it takes grown ups for   a relationship to mature. After all, relationship is not just about love. It’s also about sticking together despite. And finally becoming that person nobody wants to break up with.

The collaboration with Wiz Khalifa is not as great as what I expected. He’s part is a bit blunt. But if he happens to conjugate his rapping style, the whole outcome of the song will be totally different in a discomfited way. Still, props for the both artist! J

Here's the music video
-a comic-lyrical type and i must say one of the most creative video I've seen.

And the lyrics,

I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made for two?

Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember
The people we used to be
It's even harder to picture
That you're not here next to me
You say it's too late to make it
But is it too late to try?
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down

I've wasted my nights
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time when we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise

I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made for two?

If happy ever after did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairytales are full of sh*t
One more f*cking love song I'll be sick

You turned your back on tomorrow
Cause you forgot yesterday
I gave you my love to borrow
But just gave it away
You can't expect me to be fine
I don't expect you to care
I know I've said it before
But all of our bridges burned down

I've wasted my nights
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stucked in that time when we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise

I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made for two?

If happy ever after did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairytales are full of sh*t
One more stupid love song I'll be sick

Now I'm at a payphone...

[Wiz Khalifa]
Man fuck that sh*t
I'll be out spending all this money while you sitting round
Wondering why it wasn't you who came up from nothing
Made it from the bottom
Now when you see me I'm stunning
And all of my cars start with the push up a button
Telling me the chances I blew up or whatever you call it
Switched the number to my phone
So you never could call it
Don't need my name on my show
You can tell it I'm ballin'
Swish, what a shame could have got picked
Had a really good game but you missed your last shot
So you talk about who you see at the top
Or what you could've saw
But sad to say it's over for
Phantom pulled up valet open doors
Wiz like go away, got what you was looking for
Now ask me who they want
So you can go and take that little piece of sh*t with you

I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone
Baby it's all wrong, where are the plans we made for two?

If happy ever after did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairytales are full of sh*t
One more stupid love song I'll be sick

Now I'm at a payphone...

Over my head (Cable Car) - The Fray song meaning

From the 2005 album, How to save a life

This song is titled after Isaac Slade’s brother, Cable Car (real name Caleb) that depicts the time they’ve been during the tough times of their relationship.  The “Over my head” saying is when you’ve done something and completely lose yourself cause it’s simply too much of what you can handle.

Though it may seem like what every normal sibling we’re going through - Individual differences could drift you apart no matter how it seems like you we’re inseparable in your early childhood age.

There’s a picturesque of a bickering in the cable car hanging above in the air with what’s beneath is a deep danger. Indeed, every quarrel is a double bladed sword. Using “a girl” (she’s on your mind..)  embodied different matters that could possibly cause an argument. Yet another step backward before totally losing each other’s end.

But no matter what, you’re still bonded by a thread that yeah, may or will worn out but is definitely strong enough to hold each other from end to end.  Cause yeah, you’re not just a stranger I could disengage.

About the band

The Fray, an American rock band from Colorado formed in 2002. Lead singer, Isaac Slade experienced losing his voice during his childhood which led him to focus in playing piano in his childhood years.
The band hit the spotlight shortly after the release of their album How to save which the song itself became the debut of their success. And just a little trivia, the song is written for the kid in a youth camp that came to him for an advise but unfortunately commit a suicide few days after. The song produced different versions.

About the music

It does sound like an alternative rock but the dominance of the keys in piano made it pop. Pop rock and power ballad would exactly describe the style of their music. The rise and fall in the tone is really charismatic that could definitely capture even the none-listeners of rock genre. And there’s the meaning of the lyrics of course.

Here's the lyrics and the music video. Enjoy!

Over my head (Cable Car)

I never knew
I never knew
that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a queue
To turn and run
when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

When everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on, oh...

And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and it's effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

And everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in over my head
I'm in over my head
I'm in over...

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Gotye - Somebody that I used to know feat Kimbra song review

From the album, Making Mirrors.

A former love that wishes nothing more than catching up and building a connection without asking for another love affair again came across a cold and unfamiliar person instead.

Jealousy, infidelity and discontentment indeed equate a bitter break up. And what is there left to a love without trust? Better stop than ending yourself to a total suicide martyrdom drama.

Yet just another stranger who passed by.

About Gotye,
Wouter "Wally" De Backer an Aussie singer which deliver this song to the number 1 spot for eight weeks making a huge success on some European countries as well.
The featured artist, Kimbra is a New Zealand singer.

About the music,
Xylophone, bass, polyphonic sounds – the good ol’ times. What really amazed me is how he spills the lyrics in a very calm manner and hitting a completely different note on the chorus does intensify the sentiment of his emotion.

There you go. Lyrics and official video below. Enjoy!

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end
Always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
And you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
And I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know...

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
And you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

I used to know
That I used to know

Somebody...

Gavin DeGraw - Not Over You music review

From the album Sweeter, 2011.

The title has said too much about the song. It’s about holding on to the courage of moving on. Though there are still times that you’re past memories are still haunting you. Suddenly the truth hits you, you’re not completely over it.

Putting up an upfront face that you’re strong enough to get through this height although deep down you know it’s killing you. Even though you know how badly this person have hurt you and treated you like a shit, the fond memory washes away the anger and the thought of your sweet romance subside and just like that, you’re missing that person again. But in the end, it’s all about putting an end to what used to be good. Having enough of enough.

Moving on might seems like an eternity but it is a step towards self improvement and acknowledging windows of opportunities that you’ve been missing because you’re way too busy heading steadfast towards nowhere.

Now is the guy singing want the girl back? I don’t think so. Do you?

About Gavin
He’s song “I don’t want to be” have became his first step to spotlight. This has been the theme song of One tree hill in 2003. After this, few of his song became a theme song in few TV series.
It is said that he’s been living his second life after the incident in August of 2011.

DeGraw has said that his ultimate goal is "to leave this world a better person, and for me to not be the only one who knows it."

About the music
For a second it made me guess that he’s a British. The music style, arrangement and all that. But then he’s a New Yorker.

It is actually revolting how a musician could make use of a different style whilst making his signature stay on his music. Now that’s what we call versatility.

Not much elements in the music but it’s amazing how they make the most out of keyboard, snare, drum and play with this pieces to complete the whole arrangement of the song. Props for the back up vocals too.

Below are the lyrics of the song and the official music video.
Hope you enjoy my review. Spill your thoughts on the comment box!

Not Over You

Dreams, That's Where I Have To Go
To See Your Beautiful Face Anymore
I Stare At A Picture Of You And Listen To The Radio
Hope, Hope There's A Conversation
We Both Admit We Had It Good But
Until Then It's Alienation, I Know, That Much Is Understood
And I Realize

CHORUS:
If You Ask Me How I'm Doin I Would Say I'm Doin Just Fine
I Would Lie And Say That You're Not On My Mind
But I Go Out And I Sit Down At A Table Set For Two
And Finally I'm Forced To Face The Truth
No Matter What They Say, I'm Not Over You
Not Over You

Damn, Damn Girl You Do It Well
And I Thought You Were Innocent
You Took This Heart And Put It Through Hell
But Still You're Magnificent
I I'm A Boomerang Doesn't Matter How You Throw Me
Turn Around And I'm Back In The Game
Even Better Than The Old Me
But I'm Not Even Close Without You

CHORUS:
If You Ask Me How I'm Doin I Would Say I'm Doin Just Fine
I Would Lie And Say That You're Not On My Mind
But I Go Out And I Sit Down At A Table Set For Two
And Finally I'm Forced To Face The Truth.
No Matter What I Say, I'm Not Over You

BRIDGE:
And If I Had The Chance To Renew
You Know There Isn't A Thing I Wouldn't Do
I Could Get Back On The Right Track
But Only If You'd Be Convinced
So Until Then

CHORUS:
If You Ask Me How I'm Doin I Would Say I'm Doin Just Fine
I Would Lie And Say That You're Not On My Mind
But I Go Out And I Sit Down At A Table Set For Two
And Finally I'm Forced To Face The Truth
No Matter What I Say, I'm Not Over You
Not Over You
Not Over You
Not Over You
